Hi guys, is it possible to extract 3D models from the mif files of the game Cart Fury PS2? I can't find a tool to import and convert to OBJ. This game is from Midway. I can't reverse engineer it.

Just when you think you've seen everything lol.. these Russian fellows have been working on a Resident Evil 1 game on the good old SEGA Genesis / Mega drive and it looks pretty awesome! Obviously not 3D but a very cool 2.5D isometric retro conversion of all the rooms, monsters, and characters. I tried out the demo on the Itch page and sadly its waaaaaaay older than the stuff they've been posting over the last few years. Hope they get it done before Capcom's lawyers see it lol.
I may have to take a break for several days because of RL issues - we all have 'em and love 'em. But the tutorial is nearly complete.

One of the important points about this tutorial and this forum entry is it highlights the fact that I'm using a WINE Bottle, Winetricks, and Protontricks to accomplish using Mod Organizer 2 in Linux, and nothing else. And so far, I have succeeded. In short, all you need is WINE Staging, Winetricks, and Protontricks. That's it!

By "nothing else" I mean just that. I am not using Lutris in combination with WINE, which is cumbersome and has its own problems. Nor am I using a script to download and install old software that may or may not still function due to being outdated.

My tutorial aims to inform in clear language how to use WINE to install MO2 in any Linux distro and have it run like it is in Windows. And, because it is a WINE Bottle, WINE (along with Winetricks and Protontricks) will always be kept up-to-date. This means keeping MO2 up and running in Linux does not depend on outside sources for updates. All you have to do is keep YOUR system updated, and MO2 will always work. This makes this tutorial a fire-and-forget solution!

For the record, I am running Fedora 34, and I'm using the latest MO2, the latest LOOT, the latest Proton GE (via Steam), and so on.

Here is the link to the original post about me hacking out MO2 running in Linux. See NOTE 3.
ReShade Yes

NOTE 1: With the correct .dll override, Character voice and music works as it should in Fallout 4 and Skyrim SE/AE. The difference between Fallout 4 and Fallout 3 is, the former is a 64-bit game, and the latter is 32-bit game. The same is true for Skyrim SE/AE and Skyrim LE, respectively. MO2 is generally set up in a 64-bit prefix, so the WINE .dll override is correctly implemented. Conversely, WINE does not yet fully support WMA, and I think this is a contributing factor to Character voice and music not working in 32-bit games. Perhaps an older, 32-bit version of MO2 is key in solving this issue - it is probably the reason why the Lutris installer for MO2 (last I checked) uses an older (and outdated) 32-bit version of MO2 for its install - as do most tutorials and installation scripts found here and there on the Web. Regardless, the WINE devs are working on this issue, so it should not be long before WMA support is fully integrated, and the problematic sound fix goes away.

NOTE2: Since the GFW update, FOSE can not be used because the game launcher version has changed. Also, regardless of the operating system being Windows or Linux using WINE, some DLCs will not load. For example, Anchorage DLC doesn't load on my Steam edition of Fallout 3 GOTY at all, and The Pitt DLC may or may not load depending on which phase the Moon is in at the moment. These issues need to be resolved by Bethesda and the Silverlock team, and the Silverlock team can't do anything until Bethesda fixes Fallout 3.

NOTE 3: ENB does not work in some games, such as Fallout 4, and I suspect this is so because it requires an older binary version that just isn't available for download anymore. Perhaps if Boris reads this he'll make a small repo for downloading older versions of ENB. I'll reach out to Boris and update this section when I get a response.

MO2 on Steam Deck Help!

I recently picked up a Steam Deck to use as my gaming system. (don't judge please it's much better then the way I was gaming with an emulated version of windows 11 on my Mac.)

I was following the tutorial from "MO2 Linux Installer" I was able to install MO2 for both FO4 and FNV with out any problems but I'm having a bit of an issue installing MO2 for FO3.

	I get an error saying,

I did do some Googling on the interwebs and one suggestion was to check that "Protontricks" could see the game and it did.

Both programs work, but they have issues. The Creation Kit refuses to open multiple masters. There is no creationkit.ini on my computer to set it to do so. I created a custom one, but it ignored it.

TES5Edit is also having issues. I can't set the theme, and the 'referenced by' tab displays nothing. I also can't drag-and-drop records. Someone asked about this on github, but elminster decided to be a bigot and refused to fix this issue. How can I use this program if the 'referenced by' tab does not work? What, must I search through thousands of records by hand to find every record that references the record I want? How am I supposed to make patches if none of these features work?

I thought I had everything working once I got TES5Edit and the CreationKit to run. Turns out, they're unusable. TES5Edit will run scripts yes and show me conflicts, but that's it. I can't look up where actors are placed or what calls various leveled lists. Also, since I can't drag and drop, I have to just manually enter in a copy of every record I want. That's obviously really tedious. Why bother making a version of xEdit for linux when half its features don't work and the bigotted maker refuses to fix them? Are we not allowed to mod Skyrim on linux? Or make mods on the OS that the steamdeck runs? Or 20% of game developers on steam? Does Elminster not run linux himself? That would be rather surprising for a programmer honestly.

Getting these modding programs working on linux can be a nightmare, assuming its even possible. An idea just hit me; I have a windows 10 laptop I rarely use. So why not run the programs on that and transfer their output to the linux machine?

Of course, the laptop obviously can't run either version of Skyrim, but I wouldn't technically need to run the game to run these programs. As long as it can handle mod organizer and the programs in question, I should be able to still use them.

Of course, this means I would have to transfer my load order to the laptop, but that wouldn't be too big a deal.

I'm just getting sick of not having my normal modding programs. I don't even have any way to see if I have leveled list conflicts or not. More embarrasingly, I've forgotten how to install TES5Edit on this machine its been so long. I have the download from github, I've just never bothered to fuss with it, after spending weeks getting things running on this machine. My game runs better than ever and I don't regret a thing, but I'm just sick of having to jump through hoops to get even the simplest thing to run. Besides, fnis is abandoned, so I probably couldn't get it to install on this thing anyway. Yes, I still use fnis, because its necessary for a lot of older creature mods. Besides, I've never had much luck with nemesis anyway.

Could this idea work and greatly simplify things for me?

edit: Well, turns out all I had to do for TES5Edit is to place it in my skyrim folder. I can't drag and drop records though, so I have to just manually enter them. Can't figure out how to install wryebash though. Still, at least now I can see conflicts, and at least now I have my main modding tool up and running. Guess I'll be relying on DAR for animations for a while. Oh well.

I have a new Linux PC. Steam is now installed along with the games I play via Steam but so far I haven't installed a mod organiser. On my previous machine (also Linux ) I've used both Vortex and Mod Organizer - though not at once! I'm on Ubuntu Mantic Minotaur at present.

At the moment I'm using the Bethesda mods but there are a some mods from here that I miss... and that solution won't work for Morrowind and Oblivion. I also play Baldur's Gate I & II via Steam but I'm happy to manually mod those... always have.

I just tried to install an enb, after I found it would be simple to remove. Before, I was using ENBoost without graphics modifications. This meant reverting back to what I had before was quite a hassle. From what I've read, you can't use enboost with linux, which means that removing an enb now just involves deleting a few files, rather than replacing half of them with files I needed for enboost.

That said, it didn't go to well. Once I got the enb installed (which I did carefully btw, setting up all the files in a temporary folder before I copied them to my skyrim folder), my game refused to run. It would open a black box a quarter of the size of my screen then never proceed. This fixed itself after I removed the ENB.

Thinking about it, I realized one of the files I need is a freaking .exe! Could that be why my game refuses to work when I have enb installed? How do you then properly install enb on linux? I can find no mention of it anywhere.

I couldn't run an enb before when I had windows 10, so I got used to modifying my graphics without it. I long used Vivid Weathers to get a similar look. I later found I could also use Imaginator to also accomplish this, which is actually the main reason I was using Vivid Weathers. It even lets me change what my game looks like for each save file, meaning I could switch out the look of my game far easier with it than I could an enb. Point is, am I going to just have to go without enb and stick to my old methods of modding my graphics?

Game was running fine before without any issue, I even did a short playthrough. I installed the linux version of mod organizer, and now everything's going wrong. Its running the game in a window, and I can't find a way to change that. I also can't run the launcher anymore. The game is lagging, and the volume is also super low for some reason. I can install mods fine, but I don't see myself playing the game when its lagging, running in a window, and the volume is stupid low. Why is this happening and how do I fix it?

If this doesn't apply to you, jog on!

I really don't understand what your malfunction is. Bringing that stuff into a legit, friendly online game and ruining everyone's experience. Do you not know you're being an a-hole? Because if you don't, you're either slow or so self centered you can't see it. Not only have you ruined matches every single day for me and many others, but now my system can barely run the game without getting an error report and crashing. So thanks for that. But really, what's the payoff? You're not "winning" even if it says you did because you didn't earn it. You cheated. Not just the game but yourself. Relying on the mods to win keeps you from losing, then having to replay it over and over until you have finally conquered your goal. Is that it, are you afraid of losing? Because it's too late, you're a loser. You have broken the unspoken code of gaming. "DON'T CHEAT!"

Remember "Cheating is for B*tches!
I am having issues getting my two EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 to work in SLI on my ASUS ROG STRIX X570-E Gaming Wifi II motherboard.

My boot drive is a Crucial M.2 NVME drive in the M.2_1 slot.

The GPUs are in slots PCIEX16_1 & PCIEX16_2 and are using a hard Nvidia SLI connector. I know the SLI connector works as I used it on my last build (was working last week).

The issue I am having is that I am unable to SLI the two cards, there is no option in the Nvidia control panel. I am thinking this is because one of the GPUs is having to share minecraft PCIE channels with the NVME boot drive.

GUPz shows PCIe x16 3.0 @ x8 3.0 in the Bus interface field when 1 card is installed, the same info for card 1 when the second card is installed but with PCIe x16 3.0 @ x4 1.1 showing for the second card...

Is there some way I can continue to use the M.2 as my OS drive and get my GPUs to SLI? Is there a setting in the BIOS I can change to allow both cards to run at x16 3.0 or even x8 3.0?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Today I get home turn it on and before I can click continue or check new mods the prompt pops up about mod changes and it needs to restart.. so I'm like ok, let it do its thing. When I click continue on my current playthrough it pops up so and so mods are no longer activated, I go check my mods and sure enough they aren't on even though I never turned these 2 specific mods off. I try to turn them on and I get the topic title. This mod cannot be activated and should be deleted. Also quite a few of my legit mods are now blank squares indicating deletion. Just a side note I feel like this always happens when I get my playthrough how I want it and I'm literally looking forward to playing it the next day and something stupid always happens and i either have to reinstall skyrim or erase my mods or some bullcrap. I'm so tired of it in fact I'm about to just stop playing altogether and break the disk to be pretty. If anyone has any info please come forward. I've googled it every way and of course all I get is 2-6 year old posts about completely unrelated garbage. How could I play it and ot be fine one day and the next I can't use my mods. VERY irritated.

Please help

Erratic UMM Behaviour on macOS / PF:WotR

Ola,

Basically I am in semi-rant mode: once what was working perfectly, now is just stupidly on non-obvious way won’t work.

I used to use mono to install Unity Mod Manager on my macOS to be able to install mods in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous... Until recently.

Instaling mono on 64bit went fine, I compiled some small stuff just to prove myself it works, but once I hit that part where you choose Console.exe (instead UUM.exe on 32bit systems), and it gave me option to show the path to the .app – it just says “no path“.

That simple. Made me insane. Tried every possible thing I could think of, consulted all search engines, and... NOTHING.

So, well, maybe people lurk here, who knows, maybe I find my luck if someone know what is this all about.

Thanks for bearing w/ me through this... Rant, me guess.
Cheers to all! All help welcome (much so!),

– Axie
